Choosing a Weasley : This is a doll I picked up not really knowing why I did. She is actually a Fern doll that Mattel released in the When I Read I Dream series of dolls. I saw her in the store one day, on a shelf alone, and couldn’t leave here there.
Making a Weasley : I did absolutely nothing to this doll to make her Ginny. Well, that’s a lie. I did switch her from her original body to a spare Hermione body I had. Mostly because it was more articulated then the body she came on (which was the stiff PTR-ish type for her doll size in Mattel land). She also got the spare uniform from “Magical Talking Hermione”. So the only work I really did was transplants from Hermione.
My Thoughts on the Result : How can I not love her? Out the box she pretty much was Ginny. She was mostly the reason I was inspired to start this project, once I had two Weasleys, once Ron had his sister, well I wanted the rest of the family too. Mattel wasn’t going to make them, so why not make them myself? So while I didn’t really ‘create’ Ginny (beyond putting her in a Hogwarts Uniform), she’s the reason the project was born.
